Homemaker and Parenting Contributions (Direct and Indirect) in Property Matters
Family Law, Divorce Lawyer, Property Settlement, Child Custody, Defacto Law
In considering the contributions made by each of the parties as part of a family law property settlement, the homemaker and parenting contribution is relevant. This includes such day to day tasks as cooking the family meals, cleaning the home, making school lunches, taking children to and from extra curricula activities, taking children to the doctor or for a haircut or to buy their clothes, and other similar domestic and family duties.
The Court recognises the important role of the person who made the major parenting and homemaker role when determining a Family Court property settlement. It is not given “token” consideration – it is a very important contribution in nearly all relationships where there are children and home duties to attend to.
Our team of experts at Doolan Wagner & Callaghan can provide you with family law advice as to your entitlements in a property matter, after weighing up all the relevant factors, including homemaker and parenting contributions made by the parties or either party.
